2014 Melbourne Cup Tips

It’s the first Tuesday in November – Melbourne Cup Day (and public holiday)!

Welcome to Flemington and the Melbourne Cup

My tipping form has been horrible this spring, so for the big race (The Melbourne Cup) I’m tipping four horses, from the 23 running, to give myself a better chance of success.

(Fingers crossed!)

My Melbourne Cup tips (Race 7 Flemington);

  • No. 2 –  Cavalryman – reasonable weight, good barrier draw, good history.
  • No. 4Red Cadeaux – poor finish in the last race, but good form prior
  • No. 12Who Shot The Barman – unlucky in the Caulfield Cup, god form prior (also my wife’s tip).
  • No. 24Signoff – flying under the radar, but form looks pretty good.

I took some photos for Vic Pics around Flemington yesterday – check out the blog post here – www.vic.pics/flemington-before-the-cup

UPDATE (Results):

Number 2, Cavalryman, was scratched , my other selections came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

Cox plate

I didn’t do much good at tipping winners from last week’s Caulfield Cup, but that doesn’t mean I wont try my luck at this week’s Cox Plate.

My tips tips for Race 8 at Moonee Valley tomorrow (Sat 25th October) are number 4 Happy Trails and number 8 Criterion.

Fingers crossed!

UPDATE: No Luck with my tips again.  Number 11 Adelaide took the win in the Cox Plate, my tips came 6th and 7th.

Gamble Responsibly

Yesterday’s Caulfield Cup was run and won, with my tips way back in the results.  I tipped numbers 9 and 13 to get the quinella (first and second), but instead they ran 7th and 12th.  Oh well, I guess that’s why we are always being told to gamble responsibly.  Thankfully I only blew $10 on the race.

When the Melbourne Cup rolls around in a couple of weeks, I should probably spend more time with the form guide, but it’s always hard to tip a winner from the strong field of international horses.
